FIREBIRD CONVERTIBLE (1978-81)
In 1978, National Coach Engineering began the conversion of Firebird in convertible. Real manufacturing custom-made, these changes require a lot of work. The chassis is reinforced from front to back with a square 1" wide tube. The front seats are lowered, the rear seat is shortened by 1.5" on each side to allow space for the articulation system of the removable roof. The sun visor shall be reconciled and ceiling lighting can be found on the center console. The spare wheel is relocated. The selling price at the time approached 30,000$.
10 copies of the 10th anniversary of 1979 versions were also built. About 200 of these convertible came out of workshops NCE.
