Always with the objective to improve the handling, I replaced the rubber mounts that connect the front frame to the body with aluminum shims from Competition Engineering. In this way, the car is stiffer and the body works less.
New SUMMIT fuel pump that nowdelivers 80 gallons per hour. Compared to the original, it's almost double, but it is difficult to find such lower rate. The advantage is that it is removable. A little extra that allows you to inspect the valves if required and cleaning deposits.
"Kick the failure". Yes, it can happen to everyone. I knew I was not far from the empty but knowing the theoretical capacity of the tank (82 liters) i thought i had still 50 kilometers to go. My pontiac stopped at 50 meters of a gas station (not a bad luck). So i filled up and finally i filled 70 liters. Morality, it's the only way to know the capacity of your tank!
On Ebay you do business and when you know searching, there are beautiful pieces like this cheap alternator pulley/fan set in polished aluminum. Interest is only the look but also the fact that the pulleys machined rotate "round" as opposed to pressed steel versions.
Spring = draining. So the traditional replacement engine oil and gearbox. As the cover of the tranny has no drain plug (not convenient at all) I decided to add one, but like the previous pulley bought on Ebay, the same seller offered an aluminum housing for only 40$ I also added temperature probe that the pan that would later be linked to a temperature gauge and a magnetic drain plug. The tranny rubber silent block fell by the wayside and replaced with Energy Suspension polyurethane one.
Electronics is not a word often used on our cars, because except the ignition module. The radio is the only exception. My car radio SONY do not read MP3, I ended up fitting a set of car stereo CD, DVD, MP3, USB + TFT LCD 7". From Ebay, once again, it didn't cost a fortune and fits pretty well. the hardest thing was finding where to install the separate screen as it's impossible to bring the Firebird second generation of a motorized screen using the original location. It goes finally in the glove box. the disadvantage is that the glove box only contains the screen but there is always the other box under the center armrest.
Taking advantage of a dollar more than beneficial, I repeat orders in the U.S. to change my half axle shafts because after careful check one of the two is not running quite round. Next, a magnetic plate which is fixed to the oil filter to keep a maximum of steel scrap.
Replacing rear shocks by KONI (as in front). Setting the basis for a turn. The light meter is not very powerful, i put LED (cap 194) in place of the original bulbs in order to gain light and to provide them to the color of my car audio. A little change is good.
LURCY-LEVIS V, 2 and 3 June
This meeting has become unavoidable, it is however with an enthusiasm covered that I travel the 250km that lead to the circuit. Indeed, the forecast was not favorable (rain). But as everyone knows, this is not an exact science, and fortunately, as the weather remained dry throughout the weekend and it started to rain only on Saturday night which did not affect the test. This year my best time was achieved during my first run (and yes), the following seven runs were unsuccessful better. My new record is 16.335sec at 140,62km/h. Last year i made 16,604sec.
My runs : 16,335 - 16,568 - 16,553 - 16,802 - 16,521 - red - 16,446 - 16,729.
For over two years now, the AC was partially dismantled. The radiator and the compressor are gone from under the hood. It remained the "A/C box" the case of the radiator with air conditioning for the cabin. So that "A/C box" which disappears in favor of an "A/C delete cover" (housing for removing air conditioning) that takes place. This case is specially designed for this operation because it is not enough just to buy the box version without air conditioning because the outputs of the heater core are not the same place. As always, on ebay i found my happiness. The small copper tube coming to the junction between the rubber sleeve of the fan heater.
For installation, simply remove the wheel and the right front fender to access the entire case cooling.
Replacement of brake discs with PowerStop (drilled discs) and Raybestos pads. Naturally, the wheel bearings are new.
