2012
- WINTER
After trying to use the 75 KMH meter completely oxidized which I had despoiled, I found an other one (thank you ban1) in perfect condition. Finally, conversion to more peace of mind to roll with the speed limits... I would have incremented the few missing 17300km (it was about 26600km) for actual mileage traveled with my firebird since 2003. I will finally took about a week to reach and exceed the desired view of 60km. Here are some pictures of the assembly. Ingredients necessary for an electric scale train transformer, a photocopier motor + speedometer cable (HS) and cut a piece of shrink tubing to connect the set. Noted that it's possible to run the meter backwards for removing the mileage... I say this, I say nothing, eh....
For this time, I have deliberately not released the full to avoid counter block again damaging the dashboard as it should be rejected strongly and scratching the paint of the steering column. So I just replaced the meter, it's a more boring but it does not matter. Equipped with a GPS, I was checking the gap this new dial; balance, once again exact speed archi -> no margin, the reading speed is the speed indicated by the GPS. By cons regarding the odometer, the old meter had 1.4% error (should be added to the distance that has shown to be true, compared with GPS and modern car on the same trip of 350km) , the newer is 2%. Too bad.
After an initial transition to LED bulbs (inside/outside) a few years ago, I shall give a layer but this time with SMD LED, nothing to do with the old-type bulb. Besides a higher light output, the price has fallen significantly. Note that these LEDs produce almost one color "black", similar to fluorescent tubes purple neon colors that reflect, if you know what I mean. It was unintentional but complement the most beautiful effect at night on the "red and orange areas" of the original gauges.
- SPRING
Changing the oil breather that swung a little too much oil steam as the air filter too close absorbed. This resulted in a oily air filter. Now a pipe spits the excess out the ebgibe bay waiting to make a catch can to be "cleaner".
I tryied the vaccum plug in "ported" instead of "full vaccum" and re-adjustment engine mixture screws. it seems to turn a little better especially at idle and at startup.
For at least seven years, my left turn signal reminder not working. The problem was a simple spring that was broken.
Slight adjustment of front koni shocks, 1.75 turn on 2 possible.
